    ACI CGP2P is a multi disciplinary project born from the will to join global and peer to peer computing technologies.
    This project involves twenty six researchers from seven french laboratories, mainly from computer science fields.
    These computer science labs are working to improve global computing systems in :
  • data storage ;
  • node communication ;
  • node ability to invoque request to each others.

    From a different research field, the high energy physics, is the LAL, which has been involved in large scale computing projects for a long time now, and has always been developping its knowledge and experience in that field.
    These days, LAL in greatly concerned and involved in DataGrid. As such, it has a role to play in the GRID and P2P interoperability evaluations. Its first contribution is to deploy XtremWeb for Auger to test that global computing system in a real large scale distributed Environment.

    XtremWeb for Auger is installed since the end of summer 2003.

    A trace collector is available. This tool aims to collect traces from hosts connected to a Windows domain ; this may help to determine PC usage over the domain and see the CPU usage one could gain with Xtremweb. This is also helpfull on scheduling researches.
